I was born on 26/07/1992 in Soweto.

I started producing music in 2008 namely house and hip hop with Sbuda King.

I was interviewed by Loxion FM, Mzansi Joburg City FM, Floam online radio, Sounds Of Azania Radio, GH Mall Radio, BCR Radio. I was also interviewed by Crown TV in Uganda in 2021, Kasi FM (Mpumalanga) in 2022. In 2024 I was interviewed by Amapiano FM.

I was featured as guest artist in Impendulo Yezwe art group event, hosted in Kwenele South in Katlehong.

In 2021, I won a competition calling upcoming artist competition presented by Lifestyle media family. I was interviewed by 629 Avenue with Eshday Diphae on Hip 97.7 FM, and was interviewed by Metsimaholo FM 97.4 , Mpendulo Yezwe FM and did multiple interviews and/or articles with Kathorus Mall in 2021.

In 2020, my music was played at clubs and giggs.

My album: "Tell me why", which was released in 2017 is currently on Pure Break charts in France, and topped charts on ITunes and Spotify and have been playlisted on MTV Hits, MTV Classics, CMT & MTV classics. I was interviewed by Kasi FM in December of 2021 for winning MEM awards in 2021 for the best producer. I made it to the final round on the music marvel competition in 2024 I entered. At the Music Goat Talent competition, I made it to the second stage.

I signed a distribution deal with Almighty1 music London UK.

I had a performance at Coco Blue Jozi Ghandi Square on 27/04/2024 on Freedom Day and got interview by Tee Radio on the same day. I also performed at Gunners Pub in Jozi #K1Element. On 01/06/2024 I had a performance @hurricain Katlehong Africa day month with #K1Element. 0n 15&16/06/2024 I was booked for a wedding for a live performance for 2 days in Mpumalanga. June 2024 I had a performance at Ronnie's Car wash at Nhlapho with Popzin #K1Element. On 21/09//2024 I performed at Mama24's awards in the Victory theater in JHB alongside Popzin, and I also won 3 awards for best Amapiano producer, best Amapiano artist & best provincial male artist. I have performed on Mama24's awards alongside Popzin.

In March 2025, I had an interview with Jozi FM and had a music battle with my Duo Popzin. In 2024 I got nominated by Mzansi Arts and Media awards for best hip-hop producer and won the award. In 2025 I was nominated again for Artes award by Big M Production and was honored at the Gold Reef City lyric theatre to have a super performance.

On 04/09/2025, I had a radio interview with Kwamhlushwa Radio, #AsShoveDriveShow with BabwaAA,

I DJ'd at Basia Lounge on Fridays or weekends.

I was born on 29/12/1982.

The love of music started when I was still in high school. I was singing for a school choir in 2008.

I started going to church at "The True Vine Worship Centre" and became a member of a Praise and Worship team of which I'm still a member of.

In 2021 I met the actor Elliot Sabelo Makhubo AKA Baba ka Bettina Wethu who I've been working with up until December 2023.

Under Elliot Sabelo Makhubo Foundation, we once performed at OSJ Photo Festival which was sponsored by Easy Gas and was held at Buhlebuzile High School in Thokoza. It was our first live performance.

We were singing and performing zulu dance about gender based violence.

I then had an opportunity to go to Cameroon in March of 2023 to represent South Africa at the international festival award but unfortunately the trip was cancelled. I was then introduced to Bongani Dlamini, stage name: Voxyzie Bone, who is a composer,song writer, video graper, photographer, director and a CEO of Namanje Dawg Entertainment and currently my manager and producer under the same record label.

I was interviewed by Amapiano FM in 2024 and  my music is on their radio station's playlist as well as Mzansi Joburg FM, KMS FM, Hilbrow FM & Jozi FM.

I performed at Croco Blue Jozi Ghandi Square on 27/04/2024 on Freedom day and also had an interview with Tee radio the same day. Later that day, I performed at Gunners Pub in Jozi on 01/06/2024. I performed at Herricain lifestyle in Africa month event celebrating Rich Diversity's 2024 art. I had a wedding booking at Mpumalanga on 16&17/06/2024. I had a performance at Ronnie's Car wash in Nhlapho.

In May 2024, Voxyzie Bone and I signed a deal with a record label based in London namely Almighty1, music for the single tittled: "Let's make it happen" and with Scott Anderson of which it is a 5 year contract.

On 07/06/2024 I released my EP titled: "I am Gospel piano available on all digital stores. It was released under Namanje Dawg Entertainment, copyrighted under Content Connect Africa.

I am a share holder on a brand called K1 Element, which is now selling all over South Africa and had an interview with Metsimaholo FM.

In May 2025, I had an interview with Mdantsane FM, hosted by Dj Zol, Popzin was booked for One World One Stage concert by radio GN USA taking place on 10/08/2025.

In 2025, I had a feature with Epistemon from USA on a rock single and November 2025 it was featured on mud radio, brews radio, tattoo metal radio, rockrage radio all of which in USA.

Alma Swart, feesorganiseerder van die Umuzi Kunstefees, se dat hulle baie opgewonde is oor die nuwe teater. Ons het besluit om die ou Basement Teater, wat vir 'n dekade in sak en as gele het, in 'n volwaardige teater te omskep. Swart se dat die eerste Umuzi Kunstefees in 2024 georganiseer is en as 'n proeflopie gebruik is. Dit was 'n reuse sukses en die bestuur van Lake Umuzi het toe die besluit geneem om die teater heeltemal oor te doen en die volwaardige Umuzi Teater te skep. Die binnekant van die ou Basement Teater is totaal gestroop. Daar is nuwe teaterstoele in teaterstyl geinstalleer en die teater spog nou met die nuutste klank- en beligtingstoerusting. Die Umuzi Teater het 'n kapasiteit van 400. Sy se ook dat die teater 'n baie belangrike rol in die Umuzi Kunstefees gaan speel, maar dat dit ook die uitvoerende kunste vir Secunda weer lewendig gaan maak. Ons voorsien ook dat mense van die Oos-Rand, Johannesburg en Pretoria die teater sal ondersteun. By Lake Umuzi is daar genoeg verblyf in hotelle of chalets beskikbaar, asook 'n kampterrein, en juis daarom nooi ons almal om hier by ons teater wonderlike produksies te kom geniet. Die teater kan ook aangewend word vir konferensies, loodsing van produkte, skole se prysuitdelings, revues en meer. se Swart.
Frans Swart, besturende direkteur van Lefra Produksies se dis wonderlik om deel te kan wees van die eerste produksie in die nuwe Umuzi Teater. Ge Korsten het sekerlik in elke liewe teater en saal in ons mooi land gespeel. Hy sou baie trots gewees het om in die Umuzi Teater te kon sing. Hy wens die Umuzi Teater alles van die mooiste toe met die volgende woorde: Mag die Umuzi Teater nooit donker wees nie.

Lees asseblief die artikels wat hierdie skrywe vergesel oor streaming platforms en hoeveel betaling die kunstenaars werklik ontvang na al die streaming wat deur my en jou gedoen was. Ek verstaan dat tegnologie ons toelaat om te groei en te verander met nuwe maniere om aanhangers te bereik en om meer mense te vind wat van die kunstenaar se werk mag hou, maar hoe is dit moontlik dat kunstenaars nou baie minder ontvang as jare gelede?

Hoe is dit moontlik dat geld uit Suid-Afrika na internasionale platforms vloei en net 'n klein deel daarvan terugkom na ons plaaslike musiekmaatskappye en kunstenaars? Wanneer het dit vir ons so maklik geraak om 'n plaaslike kunstenaar se musiek gratis af te laai of te luister sonder om 'n sekonde te dink aan hoe daardie kunstenaar inkomste hieruit sou genereer?

Dink net: as kunstenaars in ons land genoeg inkomste kon kry, sal hulle nie die kaartjie geld byvoorbeeld kan verlaag wanneer hulle hul lewendige vertonings nader aan my en jou bring nie?

Have you ever asked yourself this question? Who benefits from streaming platform revenue? “The artists, of course!" you would say, right? But alas, it’s not the case.

Artists spend time writing songs, working with musicians and producers for hours and days on each song, and paying huge fees so that the final product may sound perfect enough for us, the listener, to enjoy.

Then, of course, the album covers need to be created, advertisements need to be organized, and extra outlets like radios, TV, social platforms, etc. need to be informed about the release. Live events need to be created to get the artist in touch with their fans, and all this is usually handled by a music label.

Not so long ago, we could go to a music store and buy CDs, cassettes, and even Vynil records. Already, the industry had to deal with music piracy, but the artists still got paid for the CDs, cassettes, and Vynil sales at the time. Now, with all that and the shops also gone, all the artists have left are streaming platforms.

Please read the articles accompanying this writing regarding streaming platforms and how much the artists actually receive in payment after all the streaming done by you and me. I do understand that technology allows us to grow and change into new ways to reach fans and find more people who would like the artist’s work, but how is it possible that artists are now receiving much less than years ago?

How is it possible that money flows out of South Africa to international platforms and only a small part of it makes its way back to our local labels and artists? When did it become so easy for us to download or listen to a local artist’s music for free without having a second's thought of how that artist would generate income from this?

Just think: if artists in our country should receive enough revenue, wouldn’t they be able to lower the door fees for example, when they bring their live shows closer to me and you?

Hy het reeds van jonks af 'n liefde vir musiek ontwikkel en was jonger as 5 jaar toe hy die eerste keer begin sing het.Eers het Andrew gereeld vir sy ma en haar vriendinne gesing en van graad 1 tot graad 3 het hy in die skoolkoor gesing. Omdat hy bang was sy vriende lag vir hom, veral in hoërskool, besluit hy om net daar op te hou sing. Maar hy vergeet nooit van sy droom om te sing nie en ‘n hele paar jaar later word sy droom uiteindelik bewaarheid.

Andrew se eerste optrede voor 'n gehoor was tydens 'n konsert by die Thornhill-hotel in 2014. Sedertdien kon niemand hom keer nie en die een na die ander optrede het gevolg. Andrew is ‘n plat op die aarde en nederige mens en hy is passievol oor musiek. Soos hy self sê: “Wanneer ek sing kan ek myself wees. Ek kan myself van die buitewêreld afsluit en my gevoelens uitdruk. Ek glo met harde werk kan ek my doelwitte bereik, maar ek sal nooit vergeet vanwaar ek kom nie en wie my gehelp het nie. Ek sal altyd terugkeer na waar alles vir my begin het.

Andrew is op die oomblik 'n onafhanklike kunstenaar en omdat hy self die fondse bymekaar moet kry vir opnames, neem dit effe langer om ‘n volgende liedjie op te neem, maar Andrew probeer hard om elke jaar iets nuuts vry te stel. Andrew beplan groot dinge vir die toekoms en as die Here hom die vermoeë gee sal hy daar uit uitkom en nog baie oorspronklike musiek skryf en bekend stel.

Andrew: “Die ondersteuning wat ek van die publiek in my musiek loopbaan kry is vir my ongelooflik en ek is baie dankbaar daarvoor. My ondersteuners kom eerste en daarom probeer ek om vir hulle my beste te lewer. My GOD is die EEN wat al hierdie dinge moontlik maak en dis HY wat my krag gee. Ek se Altyd Dankie vir my talentâ€.

Wanneer Andrew nie sing of werk nie, geniet hy dit om televisiereekse te kyk en om speletjies op die televisie of rekenaar te speel. Hy versamel langspeelplate(vinyl records) en het alreeds 1000de van hulle bymekaar gemaak.
Andrew is ook mal oor motorsport en het oor die algemeen 'n groot liefde vir motors.

Ruan Stein’s real name is Martin Schlebusch, and he was born in Randburg on the 2nd of December 1985. Ruan started his career as a DJ and presented karaoke and eventually decided to start singing. Ruan sings country, pop, and dance music in Afrikaans and English. He currently lives in the Northwest area.

Die legendariese Suid-Afrikaanse country-sanger Bobby Angel het op 30 Desember 2021 sy 85ste verjaardag gevier. Hy het in 2016 sy uittrede uit die musiekbedryf aangekondig het.

Robert Engelsman (sy eintlike naam) het aanvanklik opleiding as diamantslyper ontvang, en sodoende in sy pa en sy oupa se voetspore gevolg. Hy het as tiener ook as amateurbokser uitgeblink, maar terselfdertyd ook geleer om tromme te speel. Hy het later ook as sanger begin optree, en mettertyd saam met die internasionaal bekende Manfred Mann gewerk. Terwyl hy sy militere opleiding ondergaan het, het hy besluit om musiek sy loopbaan te maak.

Bobby het aanvanklik besluit om jazz- en swing-musiek, soortgelyk aan die van Frank Sinatra, te sing; hierdie genre sou hom dwarsdeur sy loopbaan na aan die hart le. Hy het sy debuut in 1960 gemaak nadat hy ‘n kontrak by die restaurant Chiquita’s in Johannesburg losgeslaan het. Die bekende musikant Dan Hill het besluit dat hy ‘n nuwe verhoognaam moes kry omdat sy naam te lank was. Hy het voorgestel dan sy van na Engel verander moes word, maar op die ou einde is daar besluit op Angel. Bobby se eerste album, “Rockin’ swingin’ and twistin’: Bobby Angelâ€, is voor ‘n gehoor in die restaurant opgeneem as gevolg van sy gewildheid.

Teen die einde van 1974 is hy genader om ‘n country-liedjie, getiteld “You ask me toâ€, op te neem. Dit was oorspronklik ‘n treffer vir Waylon Jennings, maar Elvis Presley het dit ook opgeneem.
Op 17 Januarie 1975 het Bobby se suksesverhaal begin toe sy weergawe van DIE liedjie tot Springbok Radio se Top 20 toegetree het en op 14 Maart daardie jaar tot by die nr.1-posisie gevorder het.

“Before the next teardrop falls†was oorspronklik ‘n treffer vir Freddy Fender. Bobby se weergawe het op 13 Junie 1975 tot Springbok Radio se Top 20 toegetree, die vyfde plek gehaal en 11 weke lank op die trefferslys gebly. Hierdie liedjie was in 1999 ingesluit op die album: “The heart and soul of Bobby Angelâ€. Teen daardie tyd was hy ook baie gewild in Zimbabwe, en het hy uitnodigings ontvang om daar op televisie te verskyn. Twee verdere treffers het daardie jaar gevolg. Die liedjie, “Don Junior†het Springbok Radio se Top 20 op 28 November 1975 gehaal, tot by die 16de plek gevorder en net drie weke op die trefferslys gebly.

In 1976 het Bobby vir die eerste keer in Suid-Afrika op televisie opgetree, onder meer saam met die operasangeres Mimi Coertse en die tienersangeres Gwyneth Ashley Robin, wat kort daarna in ‘n vliegongeluk oorlede is.
Net daarna, op 9 April, was Bobby terug op Springbok Radio se Top 20 met “It’s a burning thingâ€, wat oorspronklik ‘n treffer vir Mac Davis was. Bobby se weergawe was nege weke lank op die Top 20 en het die 15de plek gehaal.

Bobby het deurentyd saam met verskeie country-legendes soos Lance James, Billy Forest en Barbara Ray opgetree, maar kort voor sy 80ste verjaardag het hy besluit om finaal afskeid te neem van die musiekbedryf. Bobby is een van die kunstenaars wat die meeste gedoen het om country-musiek gewild te maak in Suid-Afrika.

Brenda Ann du Preez is op 20 Desember in Oos-Londen gebore. Op 7-jarige ouderdom dirigeer sy die skoolorkes en moes sy op ‘n stoel staan sodat almal haar kon sien. Op 8 vertolk sy die hoofrol "Sprokie" in ‘n skooloperette...

Op 9 het sy begin optree. Maritza vertel dat sy met haar eerste optrede “THE FRENCH SONG†gesing het.
Sy wen haar eerste talentwedstryd op 10-jarige ouderdom met ‘n vertolking van Groep Twee se “DAAR’S NIKS SOOS WARE LIEFDEâ€. Op die ouderdom van 12 stig sy haar eie orkes en wen haar eerste Senior Talentwedstryd met ‘n vertolking van Dolly Parton se “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOUâ€.

Op 13 jarige ouderdom werk sy saam met Trevor Rabin, Ronnie Robot en Glynn Storm vir ses weke in Oos Londen (Trevor en Ronnie was later lede van die pop-groep Rabbit) Tree op in teaters saam met Groep Twee, Min Shaw , Gert Potgieter, Gé Korsten, Mynie en Jan, John Edmond, Tommy Oliver, Lance James en vele ander sterre.

In 1976 neem sy haar eerste kortspeler getiteld “VERLANGE: op. Publieke reaksie op “VERLANGE†was baie positief en die lied bereik die NOMMER 1 posisie op die program Afrikaanse Treffers. Maritza neem haar eerste langspeel plaat genaamd Martiza op. Die liedjie “DIE LIEFDE†is afkomstig van die langspeler en behaal die ‘n NOMMER 1 posisie op Afrikaanse treffers. Addisionele treffers vir Maritza was o.a. “IN DIE MÔREâ€, “SING ‘N LIEDJIE MET MYâ€. Sy ontvang in 1976 die SPRINGBOK (MINI SARIE) toekenning as Suid-Afrika se BELOWENDSTE SANGERES.

Maritza begin met haar grenstoere te Pretoria. Daarna het die vertonings uitgebrei na ander basisse deur die land.. Na een vertoning moes sy leer wat daai sterretjies en kastele beteken op die lapelle van die manne.. Hierna is sy deur Genl. Magnus Malan se offisiere genader om ‘n GRENSTOER te doen. Die grenstoer het verander na 70 weke op die grens.

Sy neem haar tweede langspeler, “KOEMADOEâ€, in 1980 op. Die titellied word haar grootste treffer ooit. Maritza word die eerste Afrikaanse sangeres wat vir ‘n ARTES benoem word, vir haar langspeler “KOEMADOEâ€. Tannie Esmé Euvrard moes haar omtrent op elke program speel. Sy toer die land en Namibië deur met orkes Hansie Roodt en Paul Ferns ook baie met Sias Reyneke.

Alhoewel sy Country musiek sing, spits Maritza haar steeds toe op Afrikaanse musiek. In 1989 nader wyle Albie Venter van Brigadiers platemaatskappy Maritza en sy neem die langspeler “JY'S ‘N STER†op. Die liedjies “EK IS LIEF VIR DIE WÊRELDâ€, “DAAR’S NIKS SOOS WARE LIEFDE†en “JY ALLEEN†is afkomstig van die langspeler. “JY'S ‘N STER†is nog steeds gewild onder haar bewonderaars.

Op 8 Junie vanjaar verskyn haar nuutste vrystelling “Dit is ons land†waar in sy haar aanhangers soos volg bedank:

Met “ Dit is ons Land†wil Ek net
Dankie sê vir my land. Dankie sê vir my mense. Dankie dat julle my ondersteun het vandat ek 9 jaar oud was. Dankie Heer vir al die seën op my pad vir elke Engel wat ek ontmoet het! Vir elke vertoning. Sjoe vir elke vriendskap vir al die liefde en omgee. Julle is so spesiaal. Ons land is so spesiaal. My hart lê in Suid Afrika en hier wil Ek wees en hier Sal Ek sterf tussen my mense.

Grizz was born on the 30th April 1971 in Fairland’s, Johannesburg and lived in Linden with his parents and four older siblings.
He was accepted into the Drakensberg Boys Choir in 1981 as a Soprano under the choir mastership of Mr Daniel Baard. During this time he performed with the choir in various places in and around South- Africa.
After leaving the Drakensberg Choir Grizz kept taking part in National competitions, Eisteddfods and other school related performances, where he received mostly top achievements.
At age 11, Grizz lost his oldest brother due to a motorcycle accident. Jannie was in the National Air force at the time of his death and he was Grizz’s hero, and after Jannie’s death he rebelled in more than one way, and lost his will to sing.
At age 16 Grizz enrolled himself into the S.A.N.D.F where he did basic training in Heidelberg and was then placed with 61 Mechanical Battalion stationed at Oshivelo Military base in Namibia. This is where his love for heavy vehicles grew even more.

After completing his National Service he studied Mechanical Engineering Draughting and Mechanics at Verwoerdburg Tech in Pretoria, but his love for trucking led him to travel the roads of Africa crossing the Continent many times over.
In 1993 Grizz became dad to his first beautiful little girl.
After many disappointments, trails and extreme hard times in his life, he met his soul mate, Naomi in 2005, where after they got married on the 7th of April 2007 - very unexpectedly for Naomi. They got married in church at 20:00 with only 2 witnesses and Naomi’s children in attendance.
Naomi shared in his love for big rigs as she grew up with her father having a motor engineering shop, working on Cummins engines alongside her father. Grizz taught Naomi to drive rigs shortly after and in 2008 they hit the road together. The couple found a little dog next to the road, which they named Klippies and he travelled the long roads with the couple. Their first trucker at heart dog child. Together they travelled through Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and South-Africa
In September 2009 the couple settled down in Randfontein, where they still reside.
As the years passed he changed the style of his songs to fit the trucking community. There are very few songs about our truckers in South Africa and about the role they play in our every day lives and everything they have to endure on the roads of Africa, and when he was done writing them he sent it to Naomi.

During a trip to Botswana, Grizz created one of his own version songs – Lang Pad Broers - and sent it to Naomi. Changing songs shortens the road and eases the longing for her being away from home for weeks on end. She put the song on one of the social pages of Facebook for the long distance truckers, as a challenge for all truckers to show their talents or ways they find to cope with the everyday day travel far from home.
As Grizz crossed the border into Botswana, where signal for him was non existent for almost a day, she surprised him when he spoke to her again. Telling him what she had done was another story, as he sang to and for her out of his love for her and only her.
Grizz never believed that the song on Facebook would even get a 100 likes, and Naomi made a bet with him that if it reached a 100 likes he must complete the song and have it recorded professionally. The next morning there was 104 likes. The response on the Facebook post was overwhelming and Grizz had people contacting him from places as far as Nebraska and Alaska inquiring where they can get his music.
Naomi started looking into recording studios. Unfortunately 2 recording studios took the couple for a ride, but this brought them to Andre Hartman from Infinity Studios where Grizz recorded his first CD Nostalgie where after he soon followed with his second CD Classic Rock.
Grizz is a trucker at heart and his original songs are all trucking related. His first recorded original “Langpad terug na jou†he wrote in 10 minutes when he visited a friend to check out his new music room.
Soon after Grizz followed up with Broers van die Langpad, Old School Trucker, Scania Hooter and A Truckers Prayer which was written by Naomi.
The couple was nominated for the SACMAF Awards where they receive the award for Best Gospel Original.
Naomi enters Grizz into a singing competition, where the organiser announces on the day of participation that some of the entrants will be contacted to take part in short films in Channel Via (147) on DSTV.
A week later Naomi was stunned when she opened their emails and found that Grizz was invited.
Grizz then completed online projects and attended workshops. Six months later Grizz was on set in Dullstroom playing the part of an undercover policeman in the movie “Skemer Kindersâ€.
A few weeks later Grizz received a call from ABS Productions inviting him to play the role of a school headmaster in the short film “Die Eilandersâ€

Dubbed South Africa's answer to the Beatles, the pop group The Bats was formed in October 1964 and consisted of group members Eddie Eckstein (drums/vocals), Barry Jarman (guitar/trumpet/concertina), Jimmy Dunning (guitar) and Paul Ditchfield (keyboard/guitar/bass/vocals). Paul, Barry and Eddie knew each other well and had wanted to form a group for a long time, but had been prevented from doing so by their respective contracts with various bands.

Barry suggested they form a beat trio with the express purpose of making records. Jimmy Dunning, who had played with them before, was unanimously nominated to fill the gap of lead guitarist. After finally getting together, they arranged an audition with Matt Mann, then A & R Manager at G.R.C. (and later owner of RPM Record Company), who signed them to the CBS label and produced their first single, All I Got. The group were quibbling with each other about an appropriate name. In an attempt to restore order, Matt Mann yelled "You're All Bats!" and so "The Bats" was born.

The Bats re-formed in 2000. Barry Jarman was approached, but said, "Been there, done that," and declined. Unfortunately, Barry later passed on. Derek Gordon took Barry's place in the line-up, and continues to serve in the group. Although the Bats are now not in the mould of high end entertainers, they continue to "wow" audiences with their 1960s and 1970s music. Their music and comedy presentations are still polished shows, fit for Pieter Toerien's Monte Casino Theatre in Fourways, Gauteng, South Africa.

The Bats are also known for songs like “Weltevrede stasieâ€, “Groen en Goud†and “Shabby little hutâ€, just to name a few. The group started making music again around 2014. On the 27th of May this year Eddie Eckstein said, and I quote: “Well, what do you know. Believe it or not, The Bats have just played two packed houses at Die Boer Theatre in Cape Town. Because of Covid, we last played in November 2019. Our old bones creaked a bit but it was a special evening filled with music and laughter. This is also an achievement, as we have now been a band for 58 years. Who knows, we may be doing a few more gigs in the near future.â€

Clive Bruce is in Kaapstad gebore. Hy het saam met sy broer onder die gedissiplineerde hand van hul moeder, Patricia, grootgeword – selfs op haar dag ‘n goeie operasangeres vir Pact. Sy ouers is ongelukkig geskei toe Clive nog jonk was, en sy vader is toe later met die bekende Virginia Lee getroud. Op skool het hy klassieke klavierlesse ontvang, in die skoolkoor gesing, en in die skoolorkes gespeel. Tydens sy skooldae het hy ook reeds sy eie groep gestig, en kort daarna as baskitaarspeler in verskeie groepe gespeel, waaronder Spectres, Sweet Corruption, Timepiece en Staccatos. Benewens die kitaar kan hy ook die klavier en tromme goed bespeel.

In die laat sestigerjare besluit Clive om ‘n dansorkes met skoolvriende te vorm, asook ‘n solo-loopbaan met opnames te begin. Sy eerste plaatopnemes was vir Trutone in 1969. Virginia Lee, toe reeds ‘n countrylegende, het na ‘n besoek aan Engeland en Holland ‘n kortspeler getiteld Sally Sunshine saamgebring en voorgestel dat Clive dit moet opneem. Hy het daarvan gehou en dit in 1971 opgeneem by haar destydse plate-maatskappy Dominant Records. Die snit was dadelik ‘n treffer op Springbokradio se nasionale Top 20-treffersparade, wat gebaseer was op amtelike landswye verkope, sowel as nommer een op die gewilde L.M. Radio Treffersparade.

Verdere nasionale gewildheid en blootstelling het gevolg toe Clive as sanger en aanbieder van die hoogs suksesvolle countrymusiekprogram op televisie, Sing Country, ons tussen die jare 1985 en 1990 vermaak het. Tussen 1993 en 1996 word Clive weer nader getrek as gasheer – die keer van die gewilde musiekvideo-versoek-program, Rewind. Die Sing Country-reeks, wat terloops tot vandag toe nog die langlopendste plaaslike musiekprogram op televisie was, is by Clive se Zillertal-restaurant in Pretoria opgeneem.

Hy het behoorlik saam met die ABC van Suid-Afrikaanse musikante gewerk, en ook saam met Vicki du Preez, Joanna Field, Gene Rockwell en Vangie Coker in duet opgeneem. Clive was ook lid van OTH (Over The Hillbillies) saam met Lance James, Joanna Field, Billy Forrest, Sally Vaughn en Vangie Coker. OTH het vyf albums/CD’s vrygestel.

Tommy Oliver het reeds in die sewentiger jare groot treffers gehad met “ I Wanna Live “ en “ Just An Everlovin’ Woman “ waarvoor hy goue plate toekennings ontvang het. Hy het in verskeie Afrikaans en engelse televisie programme opgetree gedurende die sewentigs en die tagtigs, asook in twee rolprente naamlik “ Wat maak oom Kallie Daar “ en “ Die Afspraak “ .

Tommy het saam met Steve ‘n landwye toer gedoen gedurende 2003 en 2004 waartydens hulle by die KKNK fees en by Aardklop kunste fees opgetree het. Gedurende 2005 het Tommy saam met Steve twee vertonings in die Sun City SuperBowl gedoen. Hy sing ook sy afrikaanse treffer “ ‘n 100 Jaar “ op Steve se DVD van TOEKA 1 . Hy het Legende Toekenning ontvang van Solidariteit vir sy bydrae tot die uitbouing en bevordering van afrikaanse en country musiek in S.A.

Tommy is ook aangewys as die “ Country Legende van 2007 “ en ‘n suksesvolle “ Country Legends “ konsert, waarvan hy deel was, is gedurende Sept 2007 by Aardklop kunste fees te Potchefstroom aangebied. Tommy het, alhoewel hy in ‘n rolstoel was, tydens die Country Opskop by Grand West Casino in Kaapstad in Junie 2016 die verhoog gedeel met Steve Hofmeyr, Dennis East, Manie Jackson, Lance James en Rocking Horse, om net ‘n paar kunstenaars te noem.

Tommy het in 1986 sy linkerbeen verloor na ‘n been breuk wat nie genees het nie. Hy is in 2010 gediagnoseer met prostaat kanker en kry steeds behandeling daarvoor. Op die 9de April 2016 het Tommy ‘n frats ongeluk gehad in die Paarl en sy regter been baie sleg gebreek. Hy was vir ‘n maand in ‘n Paarlse hospitaal waar hy ’n operasie moes ondergaan. Hierna het Tommy in Wellington aangesterk , en so besluit om die dorpie sy nuwe tuiste te maak.

Tommy woon tans in die Strand vanwaar hy binnekort, saam met sy bestuurderes, Angulique, verhuis na Pretoria waar hy meer versorging sal ontvang.

Caroline was born in Cape Town and has a twin sister, Elsabe. She grew up in Walvis Bay and Lüderitz in what was South West African then. She started singing in church when she was 4. When she was 9 the family moved to Port Elizabeth where she sang at the Buffalo Pass Resort, often performing with Tommy Dell. Dan Hill, the local musician, helped her record her first album, ‘Nobody’s Child’ when she was 11 years old. When she finished school she moved up to Johannesburg where Peter Lotis asked her to record a couple of tracks for the Springbok Hit Parade album series. After this she would work with The Rising Sons, Nico Carstens and Al Debbo, Alan Garrity and Groep Twee. She appeared in the 1975 film ‘Olie Kolonie’ which also featured Nico Carstens, Darryl Jooste, Patrick Mynhardt and Tessa Ziegler. She would spend some time in Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo.

‘Net Soos Ek Die Telefoon Neersit’ featured Groep Twee’s Gert van Tonder but he was not given a separate credit. ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Golden Ring’ were both duets with Tommy Dell. Caroline is still active in the music industry and will appear in a next show, along with other SA legends and popular local artists, at the Country Music Spectacular on 5th June 2022. All this will happen at the Mystical Woods Wedding & Events venue on the Old Brits road in Pretoria.

Bobby Louw is one of South Africa’s most experienced studio musicians. He has appeared as a lead and backing vocalist, and also as an arranger, musical director or producer on literally thousands of albums. He has also been leading bands since his school days in Cape Town. When jazz-rock became popular, Bobby put together a 14-piece band (with brass, percussion and 4 female back-up singers) called KINDRED SPIRIT, which was extremely popular at the time. During this period he also started his freelance recording career, singing jingles (radio adverts), working on other people’s albums, and also making several albums as a member of the CLAUDE LARSON SINGERS. Bobby also worked with THE HYLTON ROSS BAND and Brazilian jazz keyboardist Izio Gross as a bass-player and singer. After a few years as manager of Ballyhoo and The Bats, and having relocated to Johannesburg, Bobby joined rock band Free Ride, handling bass and vocals, and playing the Johannesburg club circuit.

Bobby then became the bass player, lead vocalist and musical arranger for the legendary South African band THE BATS, and they toured the country extensively. Bobby appeared in various T.V. shows at this time including "GOOD VIBRATIONS", "BEATLES SONGBOOK", "POPSHOP", "THE BATS SPECIAL", "GENTLE ON MY MIND", etc. He also composed and sang theme songs for (and acted in) T.V. shows such as " OH GEORGE" and "CUPID". One of Bobby’s most enjoyable gigs was as lead vocalist for RICK WAKEMAN of the British band YES on his "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" shows. He also sang with PETER SARSTEDT on a nationwide tour. During the 80’s Bobby was a member of the critically-acclaimed jazz vocal group FRINGE BENEFITS with Malie Kelly, Avryl Stockley and Mike Pilot.

BOBBY HAS WORKED AS PRODUCER and/or arranger on recordings for many artists - Billy Forrest, Gene Rockwell, Tommy Dell, P.J. Powers, Zayn Adam, Cinema, Leon Schuster, Jonathan Butler, Ge Korsten, Ray Thomas, Dennis East, Lance James, Bill Flynn, Joanna Field, Jody Wayne, Sally Vaughn, Clive Bruce, Barbara Ray, and many others.

His latest band is called “BOBBY LOUW & THE SOLID GOLD BANDâ€, a name that reflects the ever-popular “solid gold†hits of yesteryear played by the band. The band includes 2 beautiful go-go dancers and an exciting brass section, whenever possible. The band has done several special concerts for Radio 702.

Currently you can catch Bobby as a broadcaster at LM Radio with a programme called “Off The Beaten Track†bringing the golden hits to the listeners.

William Charles Boardman, aka Billy Forrest, was born in Kimberley on June 6, 1940. He grew up mostly in Johannesburg and at some point also attended school in Bloemfontein. Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard and Marty Wilde are some of the famous artists at the time who inspired Billy to become a Rock 'n Roll star himself. Billy became a member of the band called “The Giants†and his first recording with this band happened in 1960.

Two years later, and after “The Giants†were disbanded, Billy started his solo career with the release of his debut album “Come back to me my loveâ€. During 1963 Billy started recorded “Country and Western†for the first time and his popularity starts to grow. His first hit “Hello Operator†was released in December 1964 and for this Billy received a golden disc as well as a Sari award in 1965 for “Top Male Vocalist - Country & Westernâ€.

One of the most important moves Billy made in 1966 was to team up with Billy Andrews and form the duo The Dream Merchants. This duo are still seen as the most successful pop group with a number of hits like “Love minus zeroâ€, “Land of 1000 dancesâ€, “The land of milk and honey†and “The Rattlerâ€. The Dream Merchants also won a Sari award for “Best Beat artists†that year and this also led to a recording contract with British record company Decca Records. After returning from England in 1967, Andrews moved to Australia and Billy changed direction to become a music producer. During this time Billy also recorded under the pseudonym Quentin E. Klopjaeger and “Lazy life†was released in June 1968 and received platinum status during December of that year and the two hits “Melody Fayre†and “Abergavenny†followed soon after.

Billy also recorded other artists like Staccatos (Cry to me), Wanda Arletti (Zanzibar) and Omega Ltd (Tchaikovsky 1) and after establishing his own company he recorded more artists like Des & Dawn Lindberg (The Seagull's Name Was Nelson), Billy & Sharon Tandy (Hello-A), Billy's other pseudonym William E. (Lovely Lorraine), Mimi Coertse (Do you love me?) and Ipi Tombi! By the end of the ‘80’s The Dream Merchants were brought back to life by Billy when Bobby Louw joined Billy as the new duo. Their new album called “Dream on†as well as the title track became a hit in South AFrica. “Tiny bubbles†was another hit recorded by Billy and, with the help of the aero chocolate advert, it sold over 100 000 copies!

John Edmond (born 18 November) is a Rhodesian folk singer and retired soldier who became popular in the 1970's for his Rhodesian patriotic songs. He reached the height of his fame during the Rhodesian Bush War where he was sometimes known as the "Bush Cat".

John Edmond is somewhat of a legend around campfires from Zambia to Zululand and from Walvis Bay to Vilanculos. Singer, songwriter, entertainer, storyteller, author and bush pilot. He has been there, done it all and fantastically still does it! His musical career has taken him through the 60's, 70's pop, country and TV eras with 7 smash South Africa hits in a row. Along with Dave Mills, the only man in South Africa to ever do this. "Toy Train", "Pasadena", "Round and Around", the list is endless...

He is an icon in Zimbabwe and to this day has dominated their charts. His Zimsongs CD was No 1 for the whole of 2001! John is also the creator of "Tales of the Game Rangers" Series — a 4 album set of bush songs and stories that are still selling steadily since their release in 1989.
